Dr. Carolyn Sloan Burton is board certified in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry where she has over 20 years of experience treating a variety of psychiatric conditions. For the past several years her interest has been on understanding the barriers to care for those seeking mental health treatment while advocating to de-stigmatize it. She also has experience in treating anxiety, depression, and eating disorders as they evolve over a lifespan. She practiced in Summit County and surrounding areas for many years before shifting her focus to teaching where she was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Denver Health working on the child/adolescent as well as adult inpatient units.
Dr. Burton was raised in Nashville, Tennessee followed by a running career that started at Stanford University. She spent many summers training at altitude where she developed her love for the mountains. You may find her snowshoeing on the trails in Summit County in the winter or hiking or mountain biking with friends and family in the summer. She is very happy to return to the mountains to assist in addressing the psychiatric needs of our communities.
